Happy Record Store Day
Holy hell today was so much fun. We woke up at the ass crack of dawn for the short drive to our favorite local record store (Deep Groove). But first we had to grab a cup of joe from another favorite spot of ours (Lift). So with two cups of coffee and enthusiasm that only caffeine can deliver at 7:00 AM, we began the almost 3 hour wait for what could potentially turn out to be a giant bust, or rather an enormous waste of time. As any smart record store day shopper knows, a list is a must, whether digital or physical. It is the best way to handle the enormous amount of material that could be available. As the three hours drag by we get another cup of coffee (this time from the evil step child Starbucks) and begin to shake with anticipation as the crowd grows and the opening draws near. We began to come up with a game plan about how we would attack the store (singles up front with full albums and 10” towards the back of the store). Holding our breaths, and gripping the lists as if our lives depended on it we entered the store ready to divide and conquer.
To be continued…
(Bruce Springsteen- American Beauty and Tame Impala- Live Versions are my first two listens so far)
I just finished my RSD 2014 wish-list. And the good news is, if I start saving now I will have enough money by the time RSD 2020 rolls around.
